Course Detail

If you want to experience an unforgettable adventure in the Tyrolean mountains, the K42 is the perfect choice: covering 43.4 kilometers and 2,400 meters of elevation gain, participants can look forward to a varied route through impressive mountain landscapes. Beautiful, technically challenging trails and breathtaking views make this race a special experience for anyone who wants to run the classic marathon distance.

Who is this race suitable for?

Experienced and trained trail marathon runners who want to run a selective and demanding trail marathon. Technically challenging and demanding, especially on the uphill and downhill sections.

Course Overview

A trail marathon that packs a punch. With an elevation gain of around 2,400 meters, this trail is looking for brave runners who are up for a challenge. In addition to flowing sections that offer short breaks to catch your breath, there are also steep climbs over the Mutterer Alm, into the Axamer Lizum and up to the Nordkette. Innsbruck’s classic mountains invite you to catch your breath and enjoy the view. One thing is certain: anyone who competes here should be well prepared for this challenge.

Mandatory Equipment

Clothing

  • Closed trail running shoes (grippy sole)

  • Extra: Long-sleeved shirt or short-sleeved shirt + arm warmers*

  • Extra: Long pants or leg warmers*

  • Rain jacket with hood (minimum 10k water column recommended)

  • Buff / Cap / Bandana

*Basic rule: No bare skin (applies only to extra clothing)

Refreshments

  • Beverage container with a capacity of 1 liter (no cups at the aid stations!)

  • Food (>500kcal)

Safety

  • Identity card (only for race bib distribution)

  • Mobile phone (smartphone/cell phone)

  • Mountain rescue insurance

  • First aid kit

    • 1× compress (10 x 10 cm)
    • 2× bandage packs / elastic bandages
    • 1× gloves
    • 1× triangular bandage (recommended)
    • 4× adhesive bandages (recommended)
  • Rescue blanket (210 x 160 cm)

  • Whistle

Crewing is only permitted at the official aid stations. Please note that not all stations are accessible by car or have parking facilities.
