INNSBRUCK, April 29, 2026 – You could really feel the tension building up in town during the past few days, and now the wait was finally over: Today’s first races kicked off the 11th edition of the Adidas Innsbruck Alpine Trailrun Festival 2026!
BUSINESS & NIGHT TRAIL: A SUCCESSFUL START
At 4pm, the event area opened its doors for hundreds of runners and spectators who took their time to stroll through the huge brand expo and enjoy true festival vibes. Then, traditionally at 6pm, it was time to toe the starting line for all Business Trail runners, taking on a fast 8km loop with 280 vertical meters all the way to Hungerburg and back to Innsbruck. This race has established itself as a meeting space and team building event for numerous companies, organizations and running clubs. Apart from the networking aspect, we saw some impressive results too:
In the women’s category, ‘Mein absolutes Lieblingsteam’ won with an average time of 00:45:10,53 minutes; in the men’s category, Team ‘Spot Market Sprinters’ took first place with a time of 00:36:41,80 minutes; and in the mixed category, ‘ILF-Ich laufe flink’ secured first place.
The wait wasn’t long before the next race got underway. At 8pm, as the sun set over Innsbruck downtown, hundreds of participants lined up to face the epic Night Trail, covering the same loop as the Business Trail. For some ambitious athletes, this race is used as a final shake-out run ahead of Saturday’s main event, but also very popular among beginners who collected their first experiences on the trails.
Florian Wiedemann won the men’s event with a time of 0:32:03,2. Lars Demuth came second, closely followed Matthäus Berger. In the women’s event, Laurine Freitag took the lead with a time of 0:38:09,6, followed by Nadine Gleirscher, with Eline Thijssen finishing third.
THIS WAS JUST THE WARM-UP!
“You can already feel the electric atmosphere on the trails, but also on our event site.”, says Alexander Pittl, CEO of the Organizer Laufwerkstatt. “Of course, we noticed the increasing popularity of trail running already before the event, since we’ll be welcoming 8.500 participants in Innsbruck this week. Once again, the Adidas Innsbruck Alpine Trailrun Festival 2026 is surpassing all previous records. I’m looking forward to the upcoming event days and to all the trail running adventures that lie ahead.”
