Grand finale and record-breaking crowds at the adidas Innsbruck Alpine Trailrun Festival

INNSBRUCK, May 2, 2026 – What a weekend! The adidas Innsbruck Alpine Trailrun Festival exceeded all expectations in its eleventh edition. With around 9,000 participants from 82 nations, the event not only set a new record but also made a powerful statement for the international trail running community. The event now ranks among Europe’s leading international trail running festivals.

TRAIL CITY

With its alpine-urban character, Innsbruck was transformed into the vibrant heart of the trail running community for four days. From the spectacular midnight start to the winners’ celebration party. The eleventh edition of the IATF was packed with highlights. Thirteen races, challenging alpine routes, urban flair, and the first elite race in a pursuit format with prize money of €30,000 ensured top sporting performances and unforgettable moments.

THESE ARE THE ‘MASTERS OF INNSBRUCK 2026’

On the final day of the adidas Innsbruck Alpine Trailrun Festival, the starting signal for the flagship races – the K110 “Masters of Innsbruck” and the K85 “Heart of the Alps Ultra” – was given punctually at midnight today on the forecourt of the Tyrolean State Theatre. Trail runners were faced with 111.2 kilometres and 5,480 metres of elevation gain, or 85.5 kilometres and 3,870 metres of elevation gain, around the Nordkette. There were some sensational results: Christian Pecher, a German living in Innsbruck who was completing his first K110, won with a time of 11:35.43 . The 35-year-old was absolutely delighted at the finish line: “It was quite windy during the night, so I was battling the cold through my sweat. Things went better from the early hours of the morning and then it got really hot! Winning in front of a crowd like this is unique!‘ The ’queen” of the K110 came from Innsbruck: Tyrolean Alina Daxböck claimed the title with a winning time of 12:52 hours.

IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCES IN THE K85 AND K65

Andreas Rieder from Zillertal won the K85 with a remarkable time of 7:59.27 hours. He was half an hour faster than Germany’s Patick Kühn. The fastest woman came from Slovakia. Andrea Wlasakova won in 9:44.22 hours, around four minutes ahead of Germany’s Lina Kabsch. The K65 “Panorama Ultra Trail” started at 6 am in Innsbruck. This race was dominated by German athletes: Sven Koch from the adidas TERREX team celebrated his victory ahead of Simon Krammig with a winning time of 5:18.21 hours. In the women’s race, the norwegian Nora Serres crossed the finish line first after 6:35 hours.

THE THRILL OF THE START IN MUTTERS

As every year, the start at the Mutterer Alm valley station was a highlight for spectators. You couldn’t miss a thing here: a stunning panorama and thrilling starts across three distances. At 7.00 am, the K42 ‘Trail Marathon’ got underway, dominated by French Adidas runner Hugo Deck (3:45.38 hours). He finished around 20 minutes ahead of Germany’s Max Rahm. In the women’s race, Maren Hamm (GER) won in 4:35 hours. The next starts in Mutters followed at 10:00 and 12:30: the K35 “Discovery Race” and the K25 “Trail Half Marathon”. French woman Holly Page won the K35 women’s race in exactly four hours. In the men’s race, there was a german one-two finish courtesy of Johannes Wingenfeld (3:12.28 hours) and Dominik Hohenleitner (3:28,13 Std.). The German athletes also put in a strong performance in the K25, where track specialist Michael Potthoff (1:53.36 hours) and Aaron Busch secured another German one-two finish. Third place went to Daniel Peer from Tyrol, who finished one minute behind. It was a similar story in the women’s race: Nadine Hübel won in 2:06.04 hours ahead of her compatriot Anne Meier. Finally, the “Rookie Trailrun” K15 took place in Hall in Tirol in the afternoon. In the final race of the IATF 2026, Germany’s Abraham Wirtz, who had led for much of the race, held on to secure victory in 1:12.30 hours, even though Salzburg’s Roland Höll came dangerously close. In the women’s race, Maddalena Laura Melle secured an Italian triumph in 1:28.11 hours, finishing two minutes ahead of her compatriot Maria Moser.

GREAT SUMMARY FROM CEO ALEXANDER PITTL

“The response to the adidas Innsbruck Alpine Trailrun Festival has been overwhelming! The atmosphere among the thousands of runners and visitors was simply phenomenal. What we experienced this weekend was far more than just a sporting event – it was a true festival of emotion, passion and togetherness. The energy on the trails, the beaming faces of the finishers in the finish area and the enthusiasm that could be felt throughout the city impressively demonstrate just how much trail running moves people – in the truest sense of the word,” said Alexander Pittl, Managing Director of the organiser Laufwerkstatt. He extends his heartfelt thanks to the approximately 500 volunteers from over 20 clubs who, working across more than 1,000 shifts, ensured that this major event ran smoothly and sustainably. “A big thank you, of course, also goes to our sponsors, partners and local supporters – for their trust, their support and their enthusiasm for what we are achieving here together,” concludes Pittl.

Now it’s time to take a breather, look back and carry on – because the 12th adidas Innsbruck Alpine Trailrun Festival 2027 will take place from 5 to 8 May 2027!
